Shadowed Grey

Shadowed Grey written by: Ravyn

Summary: Recovering from an accident, Kaoru finds herself not only dealing with injuries that have left her temporarily blind… but with a vampire whose attentions she doesn’t quite know what to make of. One shot. B/K.

Ramble:  Another vampire based story.  This time, their blood has special healing powers.  What vampires do in this story is not really described.  I mean there are some ideas, but very little mention of blood shed.

Shatterglass

Shatterglass written by: Ravyn

Summary: Kamiya Kaoru is hiding from the only salvation she ever found. Her past stalks her fragmented shadows like broken glass, unwilling to leave her. To let her leave him. Nothing will change it. KB. Possessive Fic. One-shot.

Ramble:  She runs away, hoping to save him.  He tries to find her, wanting his other half back.  They meet again, and he makes his presence known.  After figuring out what happened, and what caused her to run, he eliminates the problem, and saves her.  They end up trying to make up the four years they spent apart.

Blood Dawn

Blood Dawn written by: Ravyn

Summary: In the Underworld where Vampires prey on Mankind and Werewolves stalk the shadows, human finds themselves caught between blood and extinction . But even more terrifying is the Battousai, ruler of the night. And he gets what he wants, and he wants Kaoru.

Ramble: A vampire and werewolf filled story.  Things end abruptly in the first chapter, so some of the guys have to wait for their other halves to be reborn.  By the time they do, there are some problems before they can finally get together.  Like some of the other stories, it can be a bit dark, with many mentions of spilled blood.

Red as Blood

Red as Blood written by: Ravyn

Summary: A golden eyed demonking filled with hunger, a wicked stepmother jealous of a beauty she could never have, a beautiful princess haunted by magic, a mother's wish that bound them all. Retelling of Snow White. BK. SemiDarkfic.

Ramble:  A twist on Snow White with the cast of Rurouni Kenshin.  With a stronger presence of magic in this story.  Some things are changed (mostly things added) when compared to the regular Snow White story, but for the most part the main parts are here.

Rainfall

Rainfall written by: Ravyn

Summary: Kamiya Kaoru was his obsession. She wanted to leave, Kenshin could only force her to stay. A past life haunted both their steps, threatening what little sanity they had left. BK Dark Fic. One Shot.

Ramble:  I forget what I was looking for earlier, but I was surprised to see how few of this author's stories are here.  The drafts are probably somewhere in my email drafts, but I decided to read all of the Rurouni Kenshin stories on fanfiction and make a note of them.  Some of these stories are the fist ones that I signed up for alerts for.  Anyways, back to this story; a semi dark and possessive one shot.  There is a quick warning at the beginning of the chapter.  It is really short and quick read, perfect for a quick pick-me-up.

Light Cannot Exist Without Dark

Light Cannot Exist without Dark written by: EternallySnowy

Summary: My name is Yuki Yoshida. I am 15 years old and I live in Japan. A few months ago, my best friend and sister disappeared and is still considered missing. One day, I found myself pulled into a world full of blood, war, and love. This is my story of my time in the land where the river runs as red as blood. Retelling of Red river with my OC, Yuki. I own nothing except my OC.

Ramble: I've been looking for a good Red River story for a while now.  I was really happy to come across this complete story a few days ago.  As stated in the summary, it is a retelling of Red River with a new character.  I enjoyed how Yuki grew and changed in the story.  The additions to the original story were done really well.  While I knew about what would happen, since I finished the series, it was interesting to see the story from a different perspective. After reading this story, I know I will be going back to read the original story, and then go on the hunt for more stories.  While I wish and hope that there will be more completed stories, I highly doubt I will find more any time soon.

The Sweetest Ruin

The Sweetest Ruin written by: hyacinthgirl (Amber)

Summary: The original low angst story has William Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet meeting for the first time in Sin City.  The cast includes a less angelic Jane and nice Caroline Bingley.  (Meryton Reading Room)

Ramble:  The summary has a very good warning.  As I read the story, I was glad that I was given a warning about the change in personality.  Sometimes it drives me nuts when characters are really different from what they seem to be in the original piece of work, but with fair warning this one did not irk me as much.  Most of the story kind of goes as expected, with the whole meeting in Sin City, but it is still a wonderful read from the beginning till the end.

It is separated into 4 big parts with multiple chapters in each part.

I Have Loved None But You

I Have Loved None But You written by:  sirladyknight

Summary: And as much as she wished she could simply concentrate on what her heart was saying and the amazing man on his knees in front of her, her mouth voiced the thoughts of her ever-practical mind: "I can't." K/D, Persuasion-esque story.

Ramble:  An interesting mix of the two stories.  There are some things that are changed in this story.  For example, where one of the girls get hurt in Persuasion, it is replaced with Yuki giving birth.  Other than that, everything is pretty close to how they were in the books.  The small twists made in each story are slight and as a whole, doesn't really change the original character's personality too much.

How to Win the Heart of a Poet

How to Win the Heart of a Poet written by:  Dawnr

Summary:When Elizabeth Bennet;s computer company runs into difficulties, she calls an outside consulting firm, headed by Fitzwilliam Darcy.  (Meryton Reading Room)

Ramble:  Pretty different from the basic story.  The misunderstanding is different, and the ending of the story seems fitting.  I have to admit that there were snippets from a book in the story that I skipped over.  One of these days, I might read it if I ever reread the story.  There are posted sequels to this story, and I might get to them one of these days, but we will have to see how things go.

Fallen

Fallen written by: Confusedknight

Summary:  Kicked out of Page training, Kel becomes entangled in a bitter struggle for the suffering people of Scanra.  Four years later she returns to Tortall, a stranger to those who once knew her, a stranger who has not forgotten the promises she made...

Ramble:  This was one the the last work in process story in this category that I was interested in.  It starts out really different, as hinted to in the summary, but it is interesting how the middle of the story lines up really well with the book.  The twists were different but really good.  Not only that, but it is a very captivating story.  Long but captivating.

Daniel

Daniel written by: DawnR

Summary: Daniel is Daniel Bennet, the eighteen-year-old brother of Jane, Elizabeth, and Lydia. This story's focus will be on Darcy, Elizabeth, and Daniel. Relationships will be the heart of the story. Families love, families protect one another, and sometimes the responsibility one feels to family can be all consuming. Somewhere along the way, Elizabeth Bennet has lost herself to this notion of duty, as her brother is being groomed to inherit her family estate. When a man from the northern country enters their lives, will Elizabeth even notice his silent observations of her, or has the woman in Elizabeth been overshadowed for so long by the role of devoted sister, that she is now unreachable?  (Meryton Reading Room)

Ramble:  A little different from most other Pride and Prejudice stories.  There is the fact that there is a male heir to the Bennet's property.  Elizabeth's role/character is a little different from most other stories and books.  She is more of a protector in this story.  Things are a little different in this story, but as a whole it makes sense.  While I didn't completely understand Daniel's quirks, I found him to be a very interesting character that reminds me of my own brother in some ways.  While it is not a really quick read, because of the length, it was very easy read and very captivating.

Characteristics of a Misunderstanding

Characteristics of a Misunderstanding written by: DawnR

Summary: There are times when first impressions are unreliable at best. A short story where two people discover that there is more to the other than meets the eye.  (Meryton Reading, need username and password)

Ramble:  A short one shot that doesn't really follow the original story that much.  It actually starts with Jane's marriage.  There are some things that are present from the original story, but for the most part I really like this quick read.  There is a short time jump at the end for the epilogue and the story ends up finishing up really nicely.  The ending is enough to give a finished feel to the story will allowing readers to imagine how things continue for the two of them.

Another quick update

So the good news is that I got a new phone.  The bad news, is that there are still some emails that are stuck on my old phone. While I'll keep trying to post the stories that I read on my phone, there will be quite a few missing (and that is driving me nuts).  So between school and other things, I'll try to find time to read, and keep posting as well as back posting as much as I can.

In a way, this note is more for me than anyone else I guess.  This note probably has something to do with the fact that I came across a summary that sounds really familiar to me, but I can't find any record of reading it. :/

Ivory Keyed Up Edward

Ivory Keyed Up Edward written by: MarLea Pie

Summary: OS - Bella sings her heart out once a month with the help of the handsome mysterious pianist, Edward. Can these two find a connection outside of Newton's Tavern? Can they find it in themselves to take a chance in each other? RATED M.

Ramble:  An interesting and quick read.  There are a few funny moments that I really liked, and can really see someone doing if they could.  Starts out at a bar's open mike night and moves into the high school setting.  Since they were all at a bar, Edward and Bella are obviously over the age of 21 (so school in this case is a setting, they are not students!!!).

Elemental

Elemental written by: TallulahBelle

Summary: AU/AH: When the Swans return to their birthplace, Bella learns she is no ordinary teenager, and Forks is no ordinary town. Can she fulfill her destiny with the powerful Edward Cullen, or will the dark forces that threaten their families destroy them all?

Ramble:  An interesting story where some people are able to control one or two of the four elements.  Not only that, but the group has a type of imprinting that can take place the the two see each other after they turn 18.  It can cause some problems but as a whole things work out well.  Not only that, but the ending shows how the group is slowly changing.  Hopefully for the better.

Cullen Rescue Ranch

Cullen Rescue Ranch written by: mustlovertp

Summary: What do you do when the Mob is after you? Run. After accidentally witnessing a New York Mob hit, Bella and Emmett Swan are on the run. Due to a lucky pull from a bucket, they land in Montana at the Cullens'animal rescue facility. Rated M for Lang & lem

Ramble:  Not really as mob based as I thought it would be.  In a way, the mob seems like a way to get the siblings to run away in the beginning and a quick reminder at the end of them.  Part of me felt that the mob seemed almost forgotten in the middle of the story, but that is just me.

The Stand In

The Stand In written by: lexiecullen17

Summary: When you start in porn, there's really nowhere else to go but up. Bella, a young Hollywood hopeful, finds herself on the lowest rung of the film business ladder…porn. One-shot.

Ramble:  A quick story that I first thought was a different story.  I thought that this was a different story after reading the summary, but was surprised at how this covers a similar type of story.  A story of people standing in and have some fun on set, not knowing that the cameras were rolling while everyone else left for lunch.

The Voice

That Voice written by: Dolly1981

Summary: Captain Wentworth prevents Louisa from falling on the Cobb, but with grave injury to himself.  A shorter road to happiness.  (Completed (AHA)

Ramble:  A slight change that changes (and speeds up) the story.

I Hope You Dance

I Hope You Dance written by: LissaMU

Summary:  No summary posted (Completed AHA)

Ramble:  I have to admit that part of me took a look at this story because I recognized the song title.  Not only that, but I found myself listening to the song as I read the story.  This is short and sweet, and to me, it was worth it to take the time to find the song.  A nice reflective piece that follows a character as he listens to the song.  To me, it has a sweet ending.  Just be warned, some might want some tissues handy just in case.

The Bet

The Bet written by:  lindablanche

Summary: Best friends Fitzwilliam Darcy and Charles Bingley make an innocent bet.  Will Fitzwilliam Darcy come to regret that bet especially when he meets the intriguing Elizabeth Bennet? (Completed AHA)

Ramble:  Another amazing story that takes place around the same time as the book.  Most of the events are changed.  While there are some things that are similar to the original book, they only make up a small percentage of the story.  By the end of the story, I know that my mind was reeling with all the information I tried to keep track of all that happened in this.

Rain and Retribution

Rain and Retribution written by:  ldb531

Summary:  No summary posted (Completed AHA)

Ramble:  I liked this story for the most part.  I have to admit that there were points in the story that got me confused, because some of the characters in the story are very different from the book.  With that being said, this story gave a really interesting perspective on some of the other characters.  The two characters that were really different and threw me for a loop the most are Mr. Bennet, Jane, and Georgiana.

If Only In His Dreams

If Only In His Dreams written by:  D'Arcy in Utah

Summary:  No summary on site (AHA Completed)

Ramble:  This is a little different from the original book.  The Bennet parents are not really in this story, and there are only three Bennet siblings.  one older brother, Jane and Elizabeth.  Not only that, but Darcy's mother is still alive in this one.  Part of me was surprised because no one is the mean/evil person.  I mean, there are some characters that do some mot so nice things, but they are kind of excused as we read on and learn more about them.  Love the last chapter with the quick fast forward. :)

By The Numbers

By The Numbers written by:  jancat

Summary: Social worker Elizabeth Bennet hates bankers. Will Darcy is an artistic soul trapped in a banker's world. Beer is spilled, barbs are thrown and love emerges. (AHA completed)

Ramble:  A rather quick modern story.  There is no crazy aunt on the Darcy side of the story this time.  Not only that, but the relationship problems between Charles and Jane does not really have anything to do with Darcy in this story.  The summary holds true, and seems to be a really quick read.

Perfect Fit

Perfect Fit written by:  Linda Wells

Summary: Billionaire Fitzwilliam Darcy is burdened with maintaining his family’s legacy following the tragic deaths of his parents, and must also attempt to restore his young sister’s spirit after becoming the victim of Internet luring by a former family friend.  Elizabeth Bennet is a popular author of young adult mystery novels, written as a way of escaping first the behavior and then the memory of a dominating former lover.  These two lonely people meet at a wedding, over a broken shoe, and learn that once upon a time can lead to a happy ending. (The book can be found on Amazon too)

Ramble:  A modern twist on the classic story.  Elizabeth has a history with Collins already that isn't that happy.  While their history is not covered in a lot of details, readers are able to see how it shapes Elizabeth's character.  At first, I thought the story could have ended earlier, but after reading it, the author ended it at the right place.  I guess my original thought stemmed from where the classic story ended, so imagine my surprise when I got to where I thought the story will end, but see a more pages to the story.  :)

Hi.

I know it has been a while since I last posted.  I've been reading on my mobile instead my computer lately and have a bunch of comments and such saved in my e-mail.  When things calm down for me, I plan on back tracking and posting those up.  Right now, I am not sure when that will be but I will try to make a few posts here and there.

Ever since the start of this semester, I feel like I've been behind on everything.  Every thing non-school related has taken a back seat.  Family and other real life obligations are not really helping me in finding time to do stuff for me.  I'll try to keep things up when I'm near my computer, so there might be a post or two here or there while I'm 'taking a break'. :)

Forget with Silence and Tears

Forget with Silence and Tears written by:  Angela's Daydreams

Summary: Modern day story inspired by Jane Austen's Persuasion

Ramble:  So this is from a different site.  You have to log in before you can get to the story.  This is slightly different from the usual stories for Persuasion.  It has a modern twist to it.  Most of the story takes place in the Bay Area and Seattle.  Anne is a nurse, and Frederick joined the Peace Corps and is involved in technology.
